It’s a wrap!
2014 ended with an incredibly busy slate of projects.
After finishing up festival faves Preggoland, The Brother and Black Fly at the end of the summer, sound editorial work on the film Tumbledown entered full swing. Preliminary work began in August with the fine cut of the film. During that time I began working on basic sound palettes and sourcing recordings as well as discussions with director Sean Mewshaw. The full sound editorial team came on board in September with Gord Hillier co-sound supervising the film with me; Ryan Nowak handling Sound Effects, Jay Cheetham editing the Background Sound, while Aaron Olson assisted Gord on the Dialogue side. Foley was handled by Ian Mackie and Don Harrison at Post Modern Sound, and the Mix was at DBC Sound with myself (mixing Dialogue and Music) and Ryan Thompson (mixing Sound Effects).
The film stars Jason Sudeikis and Rebecca Hall and will be in theaters in 2015.
Also in October, I was hired to mix the Hallmark movieĀ Garage Sale Mysteries – All That Glitters at Post Modern Sound. Starring Lori Loughlin (90210) and directed by Peter DeLuise, the Garage Sale series of movies has been a hit for The Hallmark Channel. I’ll be back mixing the third installment in the series, Garage Sale Mysteries – The Dead Room, in January 2015.
In November, Food Flix, the oddball animated web series created by the Affolter Brothers posted at Bionic Audio. Ryan Nowak helped me out with the sound design and Dan Seguin scored the music. Here’s a link to one of the episodes.
And finishing off the year, I sound designed the 20th Century Fox horror film The Exorcism of Molly Hartley, by acclaimed horror director Steven R. Monroe. The sound design was a fairly big build consisting of horror scare hits, demon vocalizations, evil insect swarms, drones, and creepy ambiances. The final mix was at Post Modern Sound with myself and Ryan Thompson teaming up once again.
2015 is already shaping up to be a busy year with a slate of tv and film projects already booked. Upcoming projects include the feature films Unseen and Numb, NFB documentary feature The Ninth Floor, TV Movies Seeds of Yesterday and All of my Heart, as well as disaster flick Meteor Assault.
